In America The early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the child prodigy category. For a child with Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen was welcomed into the safe haven of her parents on the 17th of August 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was a contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and was also the owner of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came second in a family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen was a fan of rough and sports as a kid and excelled at sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural talent for performing. That was apparent that she was the winner of each Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could provide. At the age of 14 she enrolled in an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study operatic and classical vocals.
